This presentation will review the process for developing the second edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, including the role of the Advisory Committee and the role of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. It will also inform the audience of how they can follow and be involved in the process.
Katrina Piercy, PhD, RD, ACSM-CEP is a Physical Activity and Nutrition Advisor in the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion in the United States Department of Health and Human Services. She is the federal lead for the second edition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. She previously served as a policy writer for the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and was the federal lead for the Physical Activity Guidelines Midcourse Report: Strategies to Increase Physical Activity Among Youth.
